Caleta de Fuste
Just a ten minute drive from the airport, Caleta de Fuste has an attractive horse shoe bay and harbour with marina.
The beach is surrounded by a lagoon which is perfect for families with young children. There are various sports facilities and marine excursions available including pedaloes windsurfing, dive school, yellow submarine and catamaran cruises.
There are also a variety of bars shops and restaurants and banking facilities. Caleta de Fuste is a very relaxing resort which attracts both couples and families. For golfers it is ideal as the new 18 hole championship golf course is only a three minute drive.
Corralejo
The main attraction lies in its ten kilometre long white sandy beaches backed by spectacular dunes, which cover approximately twenty square kilometres and have been designated a protected area.
These magnificent sands are popular with sun-worshippers, windsurfers and nudists alike. The local beaches of Galera and Waikiki can be reached on foot or the Mini-Tren (Mini-Train) which runs to the edge of the dunes. Travel further into the dunes by taxi or bus and a range of watersports including windsurfing and kitesurfing are to be found.
There are also facilities for watersports in Corralejo itself available from the harbour area and the small beaches in town. Windsurfing and diving are popular and for land based activities the flat terrain around the resort lends itself to off-road cycling. There are number of boat excursions from the harbour including a trip to the uninhabited Isla de Lobos just a few kilometres off the coast and the neighbouring island of Lanzarote which is only 35 minutes by ferry.
The best shops are to be found in the old town by the port and along the Avenida del Generalisimo. There is also a market every Monday and Friday where good of all sorts may be purchased from arts and crafts to fake designer labels.
Evenings in Corralejo are livelier than elsewhere on the island. The old town is the place for an atmospheric meal to the accompaniment of Spanish guitar music or for more up to date sounds there is a good selection of bars just off the main Avenida.
